Social Dance Community related news
We are happy and excited to announce the acquisition of BouncingCats.com, a domain previously dedicated to the inspiring project led by Abraham “Abramz” Tekya, an Ugandan b-boy and A.I.D.S. orphan. In 2006, Abramz founded Breakdance Project Uganda (B.P.U.) with the dream of creating a free workshop aimed at empowering, rehabilitating, and healing his community by teaching youth about b-boy culture and breakdancing. This remarkable initiative became the heart of the film Bouncing Cats, directed by Nabil Elderkin, featuring appearances by Will.I.Am and earning several awards for its moving portrayal of hope through dance.

While SocialDanceCommunity is not directly affiliated with the Bouncing Cats film project, we are honored to continue the spirit of bringing dancers together and fostering positive change through dance and community. On this page, we will be sharing updates about the dance scene in Uganda and building on the incredible work that Abraham “Abramz” Tekya started.
Stay tuned for more news as we spotlight Uganda’s vibrant dance culture and the power of movement to transform lives and where to dance in Kampala and other areas of Uganda. In this particular article, we will add the inside perspectives from Uganda and change the view. The movie was intended for an international audience to gain a perspective into the local dance scene, we want to highlight the scene as much for an international audience, as well as for the local scene in Uganda and are part of this scene.
Stay tuned, we are excited to build on this.
