Los Angeles

Los Angeles, often affectionately known as "La Ciudad de Los Ángeles" or simply "LA," is a sprawling Southern Californian city and the heart of the nation’s film and television industry. Located in the state of California in the United States, it's enveloped by the Pacific Coast to the west and the San Gabriel Mountains to the north and east.

Covering about 1,302 square kilometers, the city extends from the high peaks of the San Gabriel Mountains to the Pacific Ocean, a span of nearly 70 kilometers from north to south, and about 80 kilometers from east to west. It's blessed with a Mediterranean climate, with mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers, making it an attractive destination year-round.

As of the latest estimates, the population within the city is around 4 million people, but the entire metropolitan area, including the suburbs and other adjacent cities like Long Beach and Anaheim, is home to around 13 million residents.

Tourists are drawn to LA for its iconic landmarks, including the Hollywood Sign, Universal Studios, the Getty Center, and the Walk of Fame. The beaches of Santa Monica and Venice, along with the high-end shops of Rodeo Drive, are also popular spots.

The social dance scene in LA is diverse and vibrant, thanks to the city's multicultural makeup. From salsa and bachata to West Coast Swing and tango, LA's dance scene offers something for everyone, welcoming dancers of all skill levels and styles. LA is also the home of the expressive LA style salsa.
