The local dance scene

There are some Bulgarian dancers but most of the dancers in Bansko are foreigners that live there part of the year or fly in during summer. Therefore, English is widely spoken and understood and is the common language at dance events in Bansko.

If you want to learn salsa and bachata and you have a basis, join Elena's class on Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 18.30 to 19.30 in the community center. Most of the participants are Bulgarian and the main language of instruction is Bulgarian, but you will understand the moves and everybody is welcoming and helping you with translations if necessary. Mostly it is LA style and Rueda style salsa dancing and Dominican bachata. Support this class with the contribution of 10 Leva!

During the winter and summer season there are dance events at local restaurants or cafes twice a week. Currently these are run by Leroy who teaches Kizomba and DJs at Caffe Club “New” each Tuesday and Friday evening in the summer. The kizomba class costs 10 Leva and usually starts at 8.30 pm and goes on for an hour while after that there is a mix of music. Most of the dancers are from western Europe but there are also many Bulgarians as well. Class will be conducted in English. It is a great place to get to know people and has a very familiar atmosphere to it.
